This year's winning projects, selected by judges Paul Crosby (David Chipperfield Architects), Eleanor Young (RIBA Journal), and Phil Williams (BCSA) were announced at the awards ceremony in London on the 16th June, and included:

WINNER:
LEWIS GLUCKSMAN GALLERY, CORK BY O'DONNELL & TUOMEY
-

The Lewis Glucksman Gallery cleverly blends together a rich palette of materials with a complex structural form that result in a simple, yet beautiful building. The project has not only created a huge buzz in Ireland through O'Donnell and Tuomey's impeccable design, but also for their use of galvanized steel. The judges praised the design, conception and meticulous planning of the project.

SECOND PRIZE:
MOSSBOURNE COMMUNITY ACADEMY, LONDON BY RICHARD ROGERS PARTNERSHIP
_

Richard Rogers Partnership produced a school building that provides children with a safe, open and accessible learning environment in clearly identifiable facilities, giving children and staff a sense of belonging and ownership. In combination with timber, the use of galvanized steel both structurally and aesthetically gives added robustness and boldness to its design and makes a very strong statement.

HIGHLY COMMENDED:
ACCESS BRIDGE TO "THE LISTENING MIRRORS", GREATSTONE BY CAMERON TAYLOR BEDFORD
-
The new galvanized access bridge to "The Listening Mirrors" (three ancient monuments in Greatstone, Kent) was designed by Cameron Taylor Bedford and RH Partnership to be aesthetically pleasing and easily maintained. The structure also acts as an interpretation border and edge protector to the lake.

HIGHLY COMMENDED:
11 COUTTS CRESCENT, LONDON NW5 BY ANDREW BURRIDGE ARCHITECTURE
-
Andrew Burridge Architects were commended for the clever design of this London conservatory, which has been positioned pavilion-like, in the middle of the garden and is joined to the house by a glass corridor. Galvanizing was used as a permanent, self-finished, maintenance-free material ideally framing the glass and reflecting the colour of the Welsh slate paving.

HIGHLY COMMENDED:
"GALVANISED" SCULPTURAL SERIES BY KEITH WILSON
-
With "Galvanised", British artist Keith Wilson presented a wonderful series of large galvanized steel structures, influenced by cattle markets and animal pens that retain a distinct agricultural character. The sculptures create a dynamic relationship with the volume and architectural features of the gallery space.
