SECOND PRIZE: 'BARNHOUSE' PRIVATE RESIDENCE, N LONDON BY SUTHERLAND HUSSEY ARCHITECTS, EDINBURGH - This modern family home was originally a collection of old industrial premises, the oldest of which is a grade II listed barn. The barn is now a working studio but the brick outhouses have been knocked down and replaced with a new timber framed 'barn' with a corrugated galvanized steel roof. The house now comprises three buildings, the old barn and a bedroom pavilion at the far end of the site linked by a conservatory. Galvanized steel was also used for the window frames, conservatory and floor panels.
