  This year's winning projects, selected by judges Alan Cadger (The Miller Partnership), Jan Carlos Kucharek (RIBA Journal), Phil Williams (BCSA) and Iqbal Johal (Galvanizers Association) were announced at the awards ceremony in London on the 28th June, and included:

THE ZINC HOUSE BY HEAT ARCHITECTS
-

52 Huntington Street is now home to one of the first contemporary houses to be built within the popular Victorian architecture of Islington.

A dramatic new street facade has been created using milk glass, patinated zinc and galvanized steel. The design in combination with the materials used reacts thoughtfully to the context and resolves many of the issues of a dense urban site in a beautiful and sensitive way.

CRAW ROAD, PAISLEY BY ata STUDIO

Over the last four years ataSTUDIO have developed a series of   improvements to this Victorian house in Paisley. A traditional approach is adopted within the stone building to the front of the house while at the rear a modern light feel is used, bringing the modern and traditional together. 

Re-roofing offered two dramatic elements to be added to the house. Firstly a galvanized steel waterfall and pool was added to collect all the surface water from a concealed gutter. While at the other end a large new bespoke galvanized steel framed conservatory was added to finish the rear elevation.

BENYON WHARF BY TECHNIKER LTD

Benyon Wharf is a high quality residential development adjacent to the Regents Canal Basin in Hoxton. In the process of regenerating this inner city quarter the designers have acknowledged its industrial past.

Double height glazed screens, access walkways, staircases and bridges are constructed using galvanized steel which in time complements the palette of materials used.

PINIONS BARN BY SIMON CONDER ASSOCIATES

A group of derelict farm buildings in Buckinghamshire locally known as Pionions Barn have been restored and converted into a large family home.

One of the main design objectives was to preserve the open interiors of the original barns. Externally a simple language of galvanized steel frames fixed glass panels and large external doors respond to the simple agricultural character of the original buildings.

Princes Park Stadium, Dartford Kent is a 4,100 capacity arena designed with two clear goals providing a community regeneration project to become a permanent home for Dartford FC and becoming the UK's first sustainable small stadium.
